Romance Books to Read on a Hot Summer’s Day

Still looking for a beach read to see the summer out?

THE SUN HAS made a triumphant return to the village this September having won the battle against the unpredictable British weather, with temperatures rising to a sweltering 32 degrees centigrade.

Neighbours have either set off for the beach, tried to stay cool indoors or made the most of the weather by seeking shade under the local park’s lush oaks and sycamores in the still-light evenings.

Closer to home, the sun now ripens orange plum tomatoes in the garden, has deepened the apples in the little orchard to an autumnal candy red, and sent lime green runner bean stems spiralling up their bamboo canes while their bright red flowers billow like fairies’ bloomers.

And it’s while the village enjoys the dwindling dog days of summer, that I continue editing A Summer Romance with the Earl.

Still Romancing the Earl

Yes the editing of the fourth book in the An Earl for all Seasons series is still ongoing and likely to continue to do so for the next few months. Especially now that the number of physio exercises for a past injury have recently increased and still take up much of my days.

Even with the extra writing I squeeze in during the weekends, I again must ask for your patience while I complete the latest instalment of beleaguered copywriter Jess Smith’s romantic misadventures.

The "To Be Written" List

On the plus side I am far more mobile than I have been over the past year or so. And I look forward to the time when I can jettison the physio and get back to my original writing schedule, as this combined with extra research is taking a serious toll on my daily word count.

It would also free up more time to devote to writing and I’ll be able to finally write the now increasingly long list of book ideas that have cropped up while completing this current romantic novel.

Summer Romances to Read While You Wait

Therefore in the meantime I have gathered a list of 25 gorgeous reader-recommended summer romance books, so that you'll still have a nice beach read for a dazzling summer’s day.
