AS VALENTINE’S DAY looms over us in a giant big mountain of pink and red fluffiness, you cannot have possibly missed the myriad shops packed to the rafters with romantic cards, heart-shaped gifts and other sorts of Valentine's Day gifts.
Indeed with countless reminders of the holiday on every television show, in adverts and even in this blog (oops, sorry!) it seems that there’s no escaping the most romantic day of the year.
But What if I Don't Have Valentine’s Day Plans?
It’s all well and good if you’re cozily coupled up, but what if you’re at a loose end this February 14th, your significant other is away or completely drops the ball, or you’re just simply out of ideas? Can you still celebrate the world’s most romantic holiday?
The answer is yes, of course!
And as usual I am here to help, so I will put my pen down for just a few minutes to share my list of 30 Valentine's Day activities to make the day special—even if you are single. Because why should February 14th only be for couples?
So if you’re wondering about things to do on Valentine's Day, why not be your own valentine and be extra nice to yourself, a loved one or even a pet this holiday!
30 Best Things to Do on Valentine’s Day—Even if you’re Single!
Buy yourself some nice flowers, a pretty plant or a cute plant pot.
Do a kind act for someone. i.e. leave a positive note in a library book or on the fridge.
Have a video game binge, either the latest releases or treasured old classics.
Dress up in your fanciest outfit. (Romantic goth anyone?)
Give your pet a cuddle/Volunteer at an animal shelter.
Go out to dinner with a loved one, friend, or family member.
Volunteer at a local charity and help someone in need.
Cook or order in a nice meal and your favourite drink.
Pamper yourself with a home spa day.
Get kitted up and go paintballing.
Tell your family/friend/pet/potted plant you love them.
Treat yourself to a tattoo.
Take a nice long, hot bath with candles and a bubble bath bomb.
Bake some heart-shaped cookies or a cake to eat yourself or share.
Get that heart pounding by going to the gym, walking or swimming.
Have a mini self-care day with a face or hair mask.
Snuggle up in a cosy spot with a really good book.
Indulge in a mani/pedi at home or at a beauty salon.
Journal all the things you are grateful for in your life.
Open up your heart chakra with yoga.
Make chocolate-covered strawberries at home (Yum!).
Pop open a cute bottle of pink Rosé champagne.
Treat yourself to your favourite snacks. (Who says Monster Munch can’t be romantic?)
Wait till February 15th to buy all that half-price Valentine’s day-themed choc.
Spoil yourself with some fancy/cute underwear.
Go to a fabulous show or musical.
Have a spot of afternoon tea with scones and clotted cream.
Think of others on Valentine’s Day by donating to your local foodbank.
Enjoy a movie marathon at home complete with piping hot popcorn.
Ignore Valentine’s Day completely, treat it like every other day and do absolutely nothing.
